A call for applications is now open for the attribution of one research grant within the scope of the Multiannual Financing Program for R&D Units for the Biological Engineering Centre of the University of Minho (UIDB/BIO/04469/2020), with financial support from FCT/MCTES, through National PIDDAC funds, under the following conditions:
Scientific Area: Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering or Molecular Genetics
Mandatory requirements:
The candidates must hold, at the time of application, a Master's degree in one of the abovementioned areas.
Proof of academic qualifications completed by the application deadline is required at the time of contracting.
Preferential factors:
Experience in research will be valued.
Experience in molecular biology.
Workplan and objectives to be achieved: The scientific work to be developed includes the following tasks: (a) use of the CRISPR-Cas9 tool to investigate key genetic vulnerabilities in doxorubicin-resistant breast cancer cells; (b) biological assays to characterize these vulnerabilities.
Fellowship duration: The grant will take place for a period of 8 months, with a provisional starting date in February 2025. The fellowship grant will not be renewed.
Amount of the research grant: The monthly stipend is 1.259,64€ in accordance with the stipends values published by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT I.P.).
Other benefits: Reimbursement of Voluntary Social Security (Social Security contributions) and personal accident insurance.
Exclusivity regime: The grantee will perform the activities under exclusivity.
Selection panel: The selection panel shall consist of three effective members and two substitute members.
Criteria and procedures for applications assessment and selection: The applications assessment will focus on the candidate's merit, following evaluation criteria valued on a scale of 1 to 5.
A1 - Academic path (40%);
A2 - Personal curriculum (40%);
A3 - Motivation letter (20%).
Candidates with a score of less than 4 points will be excluded.
Application deadline and submission: Applications must be formalized by sending an application letter with the required documents to ******, indicating the reference of the call CEB-BI-50-2024 .
Failure to indicate the competition reference or lack of required documents may result in exclusion.
Term and cancellation of fellowship contracts: The fellowship ends with the completion of the work plan or expiration date.
The grantee is obliged to present a Final Report of the work carried out within 30 days after the end of the scholarship.
