No Offer Description ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE AWARD OF A RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP Research Fellowship (1 vacancy) CEB-BI-36-2024 A call for applications is now open for the attribution of one research grant within the scope of the R&D project, BioFago: Novas estratégias no controlo do Fogo Bacteriano, no Centro de Engenharia Biológica), (PRR-C05-i03-I-000179), financed by national funds through Instituto de Financiamento da Agricultura e Pescas, Instituto Público - I.F.A.P. Scientific Area: Biotechnology, Biomedical, Bioengineering Requirement for granting the fellowship: The applicants may apply without prior registration in the course for which the fellowship is open. The requirement to enroll in an academic degree course will be verified on the date of contracting the fellowship. Only fellowships whose selected applicants present a valid proof of enrollment in an academic degree course will be contracted. Enrollment in non-certified courses (without curricular units) will not be considered as proof of enrollment. Mandatory requirements: Master's Degree in Bioengineering, Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or similar. Proof of academic qualifications completed on the date of submission of applications. Requirements in the contractualization phase: Indicate doctoral enrolment in the area of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering. Preferred factors: Enrolment in the first year of the PhD. Knowledge in microbiology and bacteriophages. Applicants eligibility: Applicants must comply with the eligibility conditions laid down in article 9 of the Research Grants Regulation of the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (2019). Workplan and objectives to be achieved: The aim is to isolate bacteriophages and improve their antibacterial properties. The candidate will characterize different bacteriophages to perceive their receptors and study their effectiveness against pathogenic bacteria. Host/Contracting institution and scientific supervision: The workplan will be carried out in the Centre of Biological Engineering of University of Minho, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Hugo Oliveira. Fellowship duration: The grant will take place for a period of 9 months, with a provisional starting date in January 2025. The fellowship may be renewed if the project is extended. Amount of the research grant: The Monthly Maintenance Allowance is €1,259.64 per month
