We are seeking a qualified research engineer to join our team in microfluidics and packaging for novel water quality monitoring systems under the projects PRR Smartgnostics (C644915155-00000024), FRONTSH1P (101037031), PRR Pacto da Bioeconomia Azul (C644915664-00000026) and ONE-BLUE (101134929). Job Duties The job duties will be the following: Design, fabricate, test, and validate microfluidic systems in collaboration with team members to be integrated into measuring devices and lab-on-a-chip systems; Write reports on project results and standard operating procedures; Write scientific publications in collaboration with team members; Establish new methods and processes for designing and fabricating micro/milli-fluidic devices; Train team researchers on the use of the developed techniques and processes; Equipment and laboratory management. Mandatory Qualifications Education PhD in Nanotechnology, Chemistry, Chemical engineering or Physics. Experience Extensive experience in designing, fabricating, testing, and validating microfluidic devices for sample preparation integration with sensing systems and lab-on-a-chip; Experience on the integration of designed microfluidic devices with Raman system, from confocal microscope to portable Raman with different configurations (optical fiber and free-space configurations). Technical Skills CAD design; Microfluidics fabrication (i.E., photolithography, soft lithography, hot-embossing, injection moulding, nano-imprinting, CNC micro-milling, 3D printing, laser cutting); Lab-on-a-chip systems; µTAS; Surface chemistry and analytical chemistry; Characterisation techniques (i.E., SEM, TEM, QCM, AFM, FTIR, UV-vis spectrophotometry, laser scanning confocal fluorescence microscopy, spectrofluorimetry, electrochemistry). Other Skills Highly valuable knowledge in microfluidics modelling (COMSOL); Highly appreciated experience in microbiology.
