Recruitment of a Science Communicator with a PhD Degree Public Notice - International Selection Procedure
FCiências.ID - Associação para a Investigação e Desenvolvimento de Ciências hereby announces the opening of an international call for the recruitment of a Science Communicator with a PhD Degree, equated to Assistant Researcher, within the scope of the Associated Laboratory ARNET: Aquatic Research Infrastructure Network.
I. Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Biology, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or related areas, and fully comply with the following requirements:
At least 6 years of professional and/or academic experience after the completion of the PhD, validated by advanced training and/or (co)authorship of scientific articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, including communication and dissemination of science and ocean literacy.
Publication of at least five (5) scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals since 2020, including communication and dissemination of science and ocean literacy; Scopus h-index equal to or greater than 7.
Experience in science communication in digital and/or multimedia media, including management and creation of content for social media, web pages, and newsletters.
II. Preferential Requirements
The candidate must also have demonstrated:
Proven experience in academic activities (teaching and/or supervising students).
Knowledge of the organization and objectives of R&D institutions in the National Science and Technology System, particularly in Marine Sciences.
Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) and image/video processing software.
Organizational skills, proactivity, and the ability to work in a team, particularly in a remote and multi-institutional environment.
Proven experience of working with international teams.
Proficiency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
III. Workplace
The position requires doctoral-level training and relevant professional experience to manage the ARNET Associated Laboratory's Communications Office.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective communication with ARNET's target audiences and promoting interdisciplinary work on ARNET's themes.
IV. Responsibilities
The activities to be carried out include:
Defining and updating the Laboratory's Communication Plan.
Operationalizing the Laboratory's Communication Plan.
Translating and transferring scientific findings for conservation of aquatic resources.
Producing content for various audiences.
Designing new career opportunities in the blue sector.
Organizing events to increase visibility of ARNET's contributions.
Coordinating and disseminating the Laboratory's Advanced Training initiatives.
Publicizing knowledge generated by ARNET's scientific activity.
Managing ARNET's website and social networks.
Coordinating with science communication activities in related fields.
Training new science communication professionals.
V. Contract Duration
The full-time indefinite term employment contract is expected to start in December 2024, including an initial experimental trial period of 180 days.
VI. Monthly Allowance
The gross monthly salary is 3,427.59 Euros, corresponding to the position equivalent to Assistant Researcher.
