Your new role
They are looking for an experienced R&D Manager to lead their Lisbon-based R&D team, working across both hardware and software development to expand our innovative product range. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and a commitment to advancing our product quality and capabilities.
Responsibilities Lead and manage the Lisbon R&D team, focusing on both hardware (FPGA, PCB) and software (C#, C++) development to enhance our imaging products.Oversee the full development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to design, testing, and product release.Collaborate with production, marketing, sales, and quality assurance teams to ensure high-quality and reliable solutions that meet customer needs across OEM applications in life sciences, astrophotography, and more.Support the team in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and optimizing both hardware and software performance, ensuring smooth integration with our imaging technology.Lead strategic updates to the software architecture and codebase, modernizing solutions and adding new features.Mentor and support team members, promoting a collaborative, high-performance work environment. What you need to succeed Software Development: Proficiency in C# and C++, with experience in developing camera drivers, SDKs, and image acquisition software.Familiarity with Python and additional languages (C, VHDL) is a plus.Strong background in image processing and real-time software applications for hardware interfacing.Experience updating C++ codebases to modern standards.Ability to create reliable, high-performance multiplatform SDKs. Hardware Development: Extensive experience in FPGA development, including Verilog RTL Design and Simulation.Proficiency in Schematic Capture and PCB Design.Experience with tools and platforms such as AMD Xilinx, Vivado, Lattice Semiconductor, and Altium Designer.Knowledge of embedded soft-core CPU design and 10G Ethernet integration.Experience in hardware debugging, board bring-up, and interfacing with sensor technologies. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.5+ years of experience in R&D, with at least 1 year in a leadership role.Strong project management skills, with experience in agile methodologies preferred.Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
