As a Principal Software Engineer in our Tech Hub in Portugal, you will play a crucial role on the mission to revolutionize the way viewers consume digital entertainment by creating captivating user experiences that keep the audience engaged and entertained. Joyn is a comprehensive streaming service that provides users with access to a diverse library of TV shows, movies, and live TV channels. It offers both on-demand content and live streaming options, allowing users to enjoy their favorite programs anytime, anywhere.

What you can expect in this role
Develop high-scalable and high-available micro-services, using modern technologies consisting of TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL, Kafka, AWS, Gitlab and more
Build robust GraphQL queries and REST APIs
Work as a team, respect and support each other in the team, practice agile methodologies and help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
Take care of running your services in production, continuously identify and resolve technical debt, quality issues and gaps in engineering processes.
Focus on learning, applying, and extending best-in-class industry practices to continue to raise the bar on providing developer delight and speed of delivery, all while being the technical point of reference for the team and beyond
Follow trends in software and streaming tech and turn your learnings into features and improvements that delight our customers.
Your essential experience and education
University degree in computer science, information technology, media engineering, or equivalent
Must-have: 7 years of experience in API & service architecture design, preferably with GraphQL or a related technology
Must-have: 7 years of experience using AWS or other cloud solutions at scale, especially auto-scaling and serverless
Must-have: 7 years of experience in TypeScript/Node.js
You strive to improve the overall quality and maintainability of the existing code base
Fluent in English (Portuguese and/or German language proficiency is a plus)
