Title and Summary
Mastercard is looking for a talented Principal Architect to join the Mastercard Blockchain and Digital Assets engineering team. In this role, you will be part of a highly agile team building exciting and innovative products using multiple Blockchain technology and components delivered at scale to global markets.
The Principal Architect Role:
The Principal Architect will be responsible for creating technical solutions and leading initiatives for our business. You will provide technical leadership and expertise to bring together all of our technology assets to create new and innovative solutions.
The Principal Architect operates as part of the global Mastercard Blockchain and Digital Assets Architecture and Engineering team to define and execute the strategic technical roadmap for our Crypto platform. This involves providing guidance to internal development teams through every step of the Software Development Lifecycle, from requirements analysis and technical design to working with teams to develop and deliver capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Design secure, reliable, and scalable solutions for globally distributed payment systems.
Define, plan, and support execution of the technology strategy.
Collaborate closely with the global Solution Architecture & Engineering team to define principles and best practices.
Engage with wider Mastercard Architecture & Technology teams to ensure the Crypto Platform & Products align with the wider technical strategies and policies within Mastercard.
Support development teams and work with stakeholders, promoting agile development.
Create a culture of technical excellence and ceaseless improvement.
Research, create, and evaluate technical solution alternatives for the business needs using current and upcoming technologies and frameworks.
Responsible for the analysis, design, and development of software solutions.
Provides technical leadership to projects including architecting and creating a low-level design.
Responsible for performance engineering of software solutions in scope.
Focuses on using our Blockchain tech stack(s) to solve well-known problems or opportunities within payment and adjacent industries.
Drives and fully participates hands-on in the product life-cycle execution.
Skills:
Architectures: All SOAs, Event / Micro-services based, Distributed, Blockchain / Decentralised.
Java & Spring Framework.
UI/UX frameworks (React, Angular).
APIs (Tooling and design best practices).
Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) and DevOps Architecture.

Required:
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong collaboration skills.
Extensive experience with Blockchain protocols such as Ethereum and smart contract language such as Solidity.
Familiarity with the payments industry and payment processing.
Experience designing for standard and regulatory compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, etc.).
