BIOTECHNOLOGYDate: October 1, 2024Offer DescriptionPrincipal Researcher (PR) for iBET's area of Engineering and Technology Sciences, sub-area of Industrial Biotechnology – Engineering Processes for Biopharmaceuticals.Contract category and applicable legislationA work contract will be established under the terms of the Portuguese Labour Code, for individuals holding a Doctoral Degree, corresponding to Level 54 to 61 of the single remuneration table (TRU), in accordance with Decree-Law no. 57/2016 of August 29, amended by Law No. 57/2017 of July 19, and by Regulatory Decree No. 11-A/2017 of December 29. The salary level will depend on the experience of the selected candidate. The contract is expected to take effect within a maximum period of 120 days after the deadline for application submissions.Admission RequirementsGeneral requirementsAny national, foreigner and stateless candidate(s) holding a PhD degree, completed at least 10 years before the application date, in the areas of Life Sciences, Biotechnology or Bioengineering.Demonstrated scientific maturity, in the form of publications in peer-reviewed journals in relevant scientific areas;Experience in training research staff and teaching graduate/undergraduate students;Demonstrated ability to obtain independent funding in public and/or private scientific funding programs;Experience in establishing and managing scientific collaborations with public and private institutions;Experience in leading research teams;Experience in coordinating R&D programs and/or core facilities;Excellent communication skills (oral and written);Good interpersonal skills;Fluency in English.Specific requirementsResearch experience in one or more of the following areas:Production of complex biopharmaceuticals (e.g. proteins, antibodies) using eukaryotic or prokaryotic expression platforms;Optimization of expression platforms targeting higher product quantity and quality;Application of bioreactor technology and chromatographic methods for production and purification, respectively, of complex biopharmaceuticals, up to a 50 L scale;Implementation of biochemical and biophysical technologies for product characterization, with a focus on protein identity, quantity, and quality;Technology transfer to CDMOs operating under.
