Vestas R&D is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas R&D, you'll find our department, Electrical Models, as part of Power Systems Integration Module in Product Applications & Controls R&D.
In Power Systems Integration, we are deeply engaged with the market while promoting innovation through collaborations, all with a primary focus on product development. Our core responsibilities include designing the electrical infrastructure for Vestas' renewable power plants, developing the Vestas Power Plant Controller, and creating Electrical Simulation Models for wind turbines and power plant controllers. This work leverages our department's expertise in Power Systems, Control, and Software Engineering. Within Power Systems Integration, Electrical Models specializes in crafting Electrical Simulation Models for Vestas' Wind Turbines and Power Plant Controllers. We highly prioritize initiative, leadership, and enthusiasm in our team members.
Responsibilities
Joining our global team as a Power Systems Engineer in Electrical Models, your key responsibilities include:
Ensuring the utmost performance and quality of electrical simulation models for our wind turbines and plant controllers through detailed development, testing, and validation procedures.
Collaborating with specialists within the team to review and validate engineering designs.
Working closely with colleagues in Porto and Denmark, as well as receiving input from Vestas' technical sales engineers and Transmission System Operators (TSOs) worldwide, to ensure our electrical simulation models meet global certification standards.
Engaging in engineering activities to optimize the development and validation processes of electrical simulation models.
Qualifications
We are seeking an ideal candidate with the following qualifications:
A BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
Proficiency in Power Systems steady-state analysis, including load flow and short-circuit analysis, as well as time domain and frequency domain modeling, and stability/transient analysis.
Fundamental software and programming skills, including familiarity with languages such as C, C++, and Python, and experience with version control systems like Git.
Familiarity with at least one power systems simulation tool, such as Simulink, PSS/E, DigSilent PowerFactory, or PSCAD.
