Offer Description
This recruitment is part of the PERCILUM project, which aims to develop new immersive tools for visualising and understanding lighting environments. The project focuses on reducing the difference in visual perception between a real scene and the same scene viewed through immersive visualisation devices, ultimately improving the teaching of lighting environments and facilitating decision-making for those involved in lighting.
The assignments are part of task 4 of the PERCILUM project, which aims to assess the learning capacity of architecture students based on teaching scenarios defined in task 1 and in relation to different presentation media developed in task 3. The experiments will evaluate how innovative immersive digital tools for visualising lighting environments enhance understanding of the issues surrounding lighting in architecture.
The educational objective is to introduce architecture students to architectural design approaches that consider the sensitive and aesthetic components of light in built spaces, alongside the quantitative dimension.
In order to carry out these tasks, it will be necessary to:
Complete the state of the art of the project
Contribute to the development of the experimental protocol and participate in its operational implementation on digital devices, adapting the protocol to the specificities of digital playback systems
Implement the experimental protocol and analyse the results
Organise group work meetings on the method and the analysis of the data collected
Participate in the promotion of research results through communications in international conferences and scientific articles
Host structure and location: the Centre de Recherche Nantais Architectures Urbanités (CRENAU) is the Nantes team of the Ambiances, Architectures, Urbanités AAU-UMR CNRS 1563 laboratory, based at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Nantes (http://aau.archi.fr/crenau). The PERCILUM project is funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) as part of the 2019 call for generic projects, and is being carried out by a multidisciplinary team of researchers from four laboratories. The project began in April 2020 and will run until September 2025, coordinated by Céline DROZD, a researcher from the Ministry of Culture in the AAU laboratory at ENSA Nantes.
This proposal is aimed at holders of a doctorate in architecture who are familiar with the issues of natural light, pedagogy, and the use of immersive tools such as virtual reality headsets.
Specific skills required:
Ability to work independently and strong organisational skills
Understanding of the educational issues surrounding natural light in architecture
Technical knowledge of virtual reality, image processing, statistical analysis, and data processing
Interest in working in a multi-disciplinary team
Fluency in spoken and written English (presentations and publications)
