Postdoctoral Researcher in Aging and Tissue: The Aging and Tissue Repair lab at Instituto de Medicina Molecular in Jodo Lobo, Lisbon, Portugal, is seeking two motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to join our team. These are fully funded positions, with the start date flexible between September 2024 and March 2025. Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher Research Area: Aging and Regenerative Biology with a focus on stem cell-based therapies to preserve the function of aged organs. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biology, Biomedicine, or a related field. Demonstrated ability to perform, analyze, interpret, and critically evaluate experiments. Interest in aging and regenerative biology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. Job Description: The successful candidates will join the Aging and Tissue Repair lab, which uses mouse skeletal muscle as a model system to study the interaction between immune cells and stem cells during aging. The aim is to identify new intervention targets to preserve the health, fitness, and regenerative capacity of aged muscles. Our recent discoveries have highlighted the significant role of immune aging in the decline of muscle regenerative capacity. Using scRNAseq technologies, we have profiled the immune environment of aged muscle, uncovering critical age-related changes in immune populations and signals that could affect muscle health and regenerative response. The postdoctoral researchers will build on this knowledge to explore how these immune alterations impact tissue health and stem cell behavior in both physiological and therapeutic contexts.
