JOB DESCRIPTION:
A postdoctoral position is available at Gustave Roussy Cancer Center, in the Integrative tumor immunology and immunotherapy research unit INSERM UMR1186 within the Michels group working on elucidating the impact of antigen presenting cells in the response to immunotherapy in ovarian cancer patients. The candidate will work within a team of research scientists, computational biologists, postdoctoral fellows, lab technicians, and PhD students. The Gustave Roussy Cancer Center and Bio cluster plan ensures that breakthroughs made in the laboratory can be quickly and seamlessly transferred to patient care.
We are seeking a creative and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow (PhD, MD/PhD or equivalent) experienced in immunology and immunomodulation. The research project aims to characterize 1) the immune microenvironment in the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer 2) the role of antigen presenting cells in their response to immunotherapy 3) pathways of resistance to immunotherapy in ovarian cancer 4) the immunomodulation to render immunotherapy efficient in ovarian cancer.
The position is aiming to start for 24 months with a possibility for prolongation.
The Michels Group Dr. Judith Michels is an MD, PhD, Physician Scientist in Medical Oncology in the Department of Medical Oncology at Gustave Roussy Cancer Center and the Tumor Immunology research unit INSERM UMR1186. She is an ASCO young investigator award recipient, whose research focuses on optimizing combination therapy based on immunological mechanisms in solid tumors. Dr. Michels successfully obtained research funding from a pharmaceutical company and French NCI (INCA) and is the coordinator of the PemBOv trial evaluating the combination of immunotherapy and anti-angiogenic agents in platinum resistant ovarian cancer patients.
Minimum Qualifications PhD degree in immunology, computational science, or related fields;
Consolidated expertise in flow cytometry and immunology are required.
Experience in single-cell RNA sequencing (10x Genomics or BD RhapsodyTM), digital spatial profiling (GeoMx), and bioinformatic tools will be favorably considered;
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team;
Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of collaborative work in multidisciplinary research environments;
Mastery of written and spoken English or French.
