Joining the French Geological Survey (BRGM) means becoming part of France's leading public institution for Earth Science applications, bringing together 1,000 wholeheartedly committed experts across 29 bases in Mainland and Overseas France.
BRGM focuses on enhancing geological knowledge and understanding of surface and sub-surface-related phenomena, with a view to meeting the challenges of environmental changes through innovative projects with societal implications.

You have a PhD in Earth sciences, specialising in sedimentary basin geology. You have a strong interest in geological studies in basin domains and wish to engage in projects that require skills in both sedimentary and structural geology.
You are proficient in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and seismic and well software (e.g., Geographix, Petrel). You also have field geology experience and are motivated to undertake expert missions in France.
With your extensive experience, you are well-prepared to apply your skills to research programmes such as the Subsoil "Priority Research Programme and Equipment" (PEPR). You will join the Sedimentary Basin Geology (GBS) team within the Georesources Department.
You will demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
Specific knowledge/experience in sedimentology, sedimentary geometries, sequence stratigraphy correlations, and well log analysis.
Proficiency in GIS tools, Illustrator, with a keen interest in acquiring new software skills (well correlation and geological modelling).
Precision, organisational skills and excellent communication abilities (both written and oral) with management, BRGM staff, and project partners, with the ability to effectively present geological analysis results.
Multidisciplinary teamwork.
As part of your duties, your main responsibilities will be as follows:
Conduct a synthesis of subsoil knowledge.
Perform a basin analysis integrating both surface and subsurface data.
Provide expertise in 3D reconstruction of geometries and lateral facies variations.
Contribute to the scientific and public reputation of BRGM and the Subsoil PEPR by promoting research results through publications and conference presentations.
Monitor scientific advancements in regional geology within the framework of the PEPR.
