Offer Description In order to integrate more renewable energies, the electricity network is being transformed into a smart grid. This transition requires a shift from centralized management to decentralized management, involving numerous entities which present complex challenges that conventional methods cannot resolve. Therefore, decentralized management techniques are being developed, including a promising method based on "bandits" (a reinforcement learning approach). The proposed post-doc will collaborate closely with a PhD student to further develop this method, aiming to provide AI-based electrical network models. The post-doc will be part of the national ANR EDEN4SG project ("Efficient and Dynamic ENergy Management for Large-Scale Smart Grids", project link ), in collaboration with Orange, EDF, distribution system operator SRD, and academic labs IRISA (Rennes) and IRIT (Toulouse).
The post-doctoral researcher will develop fast network models to expedite calculations and may contribute to adapting the developed control method to wind energy.
The position will include, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
Bibliographical research
Mathematical formalisation of the problems under consideration
Numerical simulations
Reporting
Writing scientific articles
Participation in national and international scientific events (conferences, seminars, etc.)
Courses may be taught at ENS Rennes.
Profile MANDATORY:
Having spent at least 18 months outside of France between 1st May 2020 and the position starting time.
