Offer Description The successful candidate will be in charge of developing a sophisticated monolithic mesoscopic microphysiological imaging system that will enable organoid and tissue culture and long-term dynamic imaging at depth and high resolution. The postdoc will rely on novel computational approaches for single-shot 3D mesoscopic imaging.
Main activities:
Construction of a digital model of the device to guide the design and optimization of the integrated optical system and 3D reconstruction algorithm. This model will include the microlens array (MLA) and the illumination layout according to the different requirements of microfluidic and biological experiments.
Use the design and optics software suite offered by Zemax, testing different MLA magnifications, shapes, numerical apertures (NA), diffractive and refractive surfaces, and illumination configurations (oblique, light sheet, etc.).
Design the reconstruction algorithm, exploring different 3D reconstruction methods based on deep learning in combination with the incorporation of prior knowledge of the device's geometry and materials. These simulations will optimize parameters such as field of view, depth of field, signal-to-noise ratio, resolution, and sensitivity.

Biological image processing, statistical and deep learning, data visualization, image processing platforms (Fiji/ImageJ, napari), software development (Java, C/C++, Python, Matlab), and FAIR image database management systems.
Knowledge of the organization of the structure in which the mission is carried out.
This 12-month post-doctoral contract at RESTORE is proposed as part of the PEPR MEDOCC TPP EnVie funded project, focusing on the development of a microphysiological system with integrated optical lenses for live, high-resolution 3D depth mesoscopic imaging. The successful candidate will work on this collaborative project involving several Toulouse research groups at the intersection of computational imaging, physiology, and machine learning. The post-doc will collaborate closely with members of the Institut Clément Ader, as well as with members of the ELiA (LAAS) and SPIRIT (IRSD) teams and the Restore imaging platform, and will be expected to contribute to the development of new research directions.
The candidate will have solid research experience in one or more of the following areas: computational imaging, inverse problems, deep learning, optimization, signal processing, biomedical imaging, and/or computer vision. We are particularly looking for candidates with experience in the design and implementation of computational imaging algorithms, who can prioritize their work and organize their activity within constraints and deadlines. They should also demonstrate good interpersonal skills, team spirit, organization, method and rigor, and initiative.
Additional comments:
PhD in signal and image processing, statistics, or applied mathematics, with validated training or experience in microscopy image processing.
