Offer Description The person hired on this post-doc position will carry out research within the ERC project "Groups of Algebraic Transformations" , focusing on the interactions between group theory, dynamical systems, and algebraic geometry.
The aims include:
Analyzing the constraints on a group of finite type that can act faithfully by algebraic transformations on an algebraic variety.
Studying the dynamics of certain interesting explicit actions.
The hired person will participate in laboratory activities and the ERC project, including attending seminars, engaging in working groups and conferences, and interacting with other project members.
The position will be based at the Institut de Recherches Mathématiques de Rennes (IRMAR), which includes numerous researchers in group theory, algebraic geometry, analytic geometry, and dynamical systems.
The ERC Advanced Grant program "Groups of Algebraic Transformations" involves Serge Cantat, Christophe Dupont, Vincent Guirardel, François Maucourant, and others.
Possible research topics cover a wide spectrum, from complex algebraic geometry to group theory and dynamical systems (holomorphic, arithmetic, etc.). Anyone with expertise in these fields and motivated by the suggested issues is welcome to apply.
