Offer Description Scientific activities of the laboratory:
Our group focuses on the mechanisms governing the malignant transformation of neurofibromas in neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). This genetic disorder, with an incidence estimated at 1 in 2,500 births, is caused by mutations in the NF1 gene, which encodes a negative regulator of the RAS pathway. Dysregulation of this pathway leads to abnormalities in cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation, causing numerous cancers. NF1 patients develop neurofibromas, benign nerve tumors, some of which evolve into malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNST) due to additional mutations in tumor suppressor genes.
This project aims to decode Sox9's role in malignant transformation by studying the mechanisms responsible for its activation and maintenance, then identifying its targets in tumor cells. To achieve this, we will use multiomic approaches such as scATACseq/RNAseq and Chipseq/RNAseq on mouse tumor cells at various stages of malignant progression.
The candidate's mission will be to design and conduct experiments, then analyze the results. They will be supported by an experienced research engineer and collaborate with other team members and our chemist partners. The candidate must have a solid background in biology/oncology, with knowledge in epigenetic and transcriptomic analyses. Programming skills (R/Python) would be an advantage. The candidate will be expected to present their results at national and international conferences and participate in the writing and review of publications stemming from their work.
