Offer Description In the field of information processing, different approaches are being followed to build quantum computers that would improve computing performance in many aspects. One of the avenues being explored relies on the use of microwaves to manipulate paramagnetic molecules as quantum bits (qubits). In this project, we are interested in coordination complexes involving integer spin transition metals as qubits. The objective is to identify those which present the best magnetic anisotropy and relaxation time characteristics through an in-depth EPR (Electron Paramagnetic Resonance) study in continuous wave and pulse mode, carried out jointly at the LNCMI and the laboratory CEA Grenoble/Symmes/Campe.
The successful candidate will be in charge of carrying out RPE experiments, in cw and pulse modes, over a wide frequency range (X and Q bands and at high frequencies). He/She will also participate in the preparation of samples, including synthesis depending on his/her skills.
The successful candidate will analyze data, write reports, participate in the writing of manuscripts, and present the results during group meetings and conferences.
Part of the post-doctoral work will also be carried out in collaboration with the CEA Grenoble/Symmes/Campe. It is part of the Infranalytics research infrastructure and is associated with CNRS and Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA).
The candidate must have a PhD thesis in physics or chemistry, with a good knowledge of molecular magnetism. A good knowledge of physicochemical methods in general and magnetic spectroscopies in particular (ideally EPR or otherwise NMR and/or IR) is required as well as a good grasp of quantum mechanics. Skills in Squid magnetometry (dc and ac), X-ray diffraction (single crystal), theoretical calculation (DFT, ab initio) will be appreciated. The candidate will carry out collaborative work and must demonstrate good teamwork skills as well as good autonomy.
Additional Comments Working at the LNCMI means benefiting from the CNRS's human resources and social action policies. These include the following benefits:
subsidized catering
partial reimbursement of public transport passes
partial reimbursement of additional health insurance contributions (subject to conditions)
sustainable mobility package (subject to conditions)
cultural and leisure offers via the Comité d'Actions et d'Entraide Sociale (CAES : Social Action and Mutual Aid Committee)
Full time weekly working hours: 38h30
telework (subject to conditions)
45 days' annual leave, including RTT, for full-time work
