Detalhes da Vaga

Organisation/Company: Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier
Research Field: Medical sciences » Health sciences; Biological sciences » Biology
Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2)
Positions: Postdoc Positions
Country: France
Application Deadline: 20 Dec 2024 - 12:00 (Europe/Paris)
Type of Contract: Temporary
Job Status: Full-time
Hours Per Week: 39h10
Offer Starting Date: 3 Mar 2025
Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Horizon 2020
Reference Number: 856404
Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No
Offer Description Objectives: We recently observed that hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL), a protein known for its role as a cytosolic enzyme hydrolysing triacylglycerol, is expressed in the adipocyte nucleus where it plays a major role in the maintenance of adipose tissue. In the nucleus, HSL interacts with a network of proteins involved in pre-mRNA processing, including RNA-binding proteins. The project aims at determining the function of nuclear hormone-sensitive lipase and the underlying molecular mechanisms.
Context: The project will be carried out in the AdipoLive lab ( AdipoLive lab ) at the Institute of Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases (I2MC) which investigates adipose tissue and liver metabolism in metabolic diseases. The lab is composed of scientists with different specialties (molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, mouse models and phenotyping, clinical studies). The research project is part of the ERC Synergy program SPHERES ( SPHERES ) which also includes Prof. Ryden's lab at Karolinska Institute (Stockholm) and Dr. Bruno Antonny's lab at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (Nice-Sophia Antipolis).
Work program: The goal of SPHERES is to understand the dynamics and consequences of adipocyte hypertrophy (enlargement) through investigation of its large lipid droplet (LD). Increased adipocyte size is the single adipose characteristic most strongly linked to cardiometabolic diseases.
Management: The candidate will be supervised by Prof. Dominique Langin (Corresponding Principal Investigator of SPHERES and Director of I2MC).

Additional comments:
The Institute of Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases (I2MC; I2MC ) develops research programs on the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in metabolic diseases (obesity, diabetes, and dyslipidemia) and cardiovascular complications (vascular diseases, thrombosis, atherosclerosis, heart and kidney failure). The I2MC has recognized expertise in cell biology, mouse models, and clinical work supported by technological facilities in cellular imaging, cytometry, lipidomics, genomics, proteomics, and mouse phenotyping. The I2MC offers opportunities to work on major chronic diseases in the highly appreciated environment of Toulouse.
