Offer Description
COFAC, Cooperativa de Animação e Formação Cultural crl, opens a call for applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in the scope of the project "Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions/Movimentos feministas glocais: interações e contradições (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021)", supported through national funds in the budget of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) - and developed in the research unit CICANT - Research Center for Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies (in Lusófona University, Porto). The FEMglocal project aims to understand the feminist movement today, paying attention to the specificities of the Portuguese context in articulation with the transnational circumstances and taking into account the interactions and contradictions between global and local activisms, rooted in digital communication and in the national context. The project is anchored in a mixed methodology, using quantitative and qualitative perspectives and data triangulation techniques.
Skills/Qualifications
All individuals with PhD in the areas of Social Sciences, particularly Communication Sciences, Gender Studies or equivalent are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The candidate CV must evidence previous work that demonstrates the candidate is qualified to carry out activities to support the organisation, implementation and technical-scientific development of the project, namely:
To develop and implement activities related to theoretical problematization;
To prepare and conduct the analysis of the genealogy and cartography of the Portuguese Feminist Movement;
To prepare and develop Case Studies analysis;
To conduct quantitative and qualitative research tasks;
To prepare podcasts and collaborate in audiovisual outputs;
To prepare and develop a Collaborative and Interactive Platform related to the project;
To prepare and conduct dissemination and sustainability tasks;
To develop fieldwork and dissemination activities in Portuguese and in English;
To help prepare publications to submit to scientific journals, with peer reviewing, on the topics related to the project;
To collaborate in other publications in areas relevant to the project;
Other tasks to support the project's development.
Specific Requirements
Academic and professional experience and knowledge in the areas of Communication, Gender, Diversity, Feminisms and Social Movements;
Strong skills to operate with diverse quantitative and qualitative research data software (namely SPSS, NVivo);
Expertise in Case Studies analysis and qualitative methodologies;
Academic and professional experience in national and international projects in the fields of FEMGlocal research project;
Expertise with digital platforms, podcasts production and edition and documentaries;
Academic and professional experience to have skills in dissemination activities to different audiences and creating dissemination products;
Proficiency, both orally and in writing, in Portuguese and English.
Benefits
The fellowship will have a duration of 32 months, without the possibility of renewal. The amount of the grant is 1646€, in accordance with the table of values for grants awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country. The payment of voluntary social insurance is also foreseen. The candidate will work at CICANT - The Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies and Lusófona University (Porto), where we offer a positive working environment and experience. Applicants must meet the eligibility conditions set out in Articles 6 and 9 of the FCT I.P. Research Grant Regulations (2019).
Selection process
The competition is open from February 21 to March 18, 2022 at 6pm WET. Applications must be submitted by email to ******, with the reference: "FEMGlocal – BPD/PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021" in the subject. The application must be accompanied by the following documents:
Detailed Curriculum Vitae clearly indicating how the knowledge and experience were acquired to meet the selection criteria by giving specific examples;
Motivational letter in Portuguese and English;
Documents proving that the candidate meets the required conditions for the type of scholarship to which he/she is applying, namely qualification certificates with final average; proof of enrolment in a course leading to an academic degree (when applicable).

The selection will be based on curricular evaluation and interview.
Evaluation criteria:
Integrated evaluation of the scientific production in areas related to FEMGlocal;
Evaluation of extension activities and dissemination of knowledge in areas related to FEMGlocal.
Candidates will be notified of the results of the competition via email and the ordered list of candidates will be posted on the CICANT website.
The candidates will be excluded in the following cases:
