Offer Description Our team "Retrovirus, Infection and Latency" studies the molecular conflict between host defence factors and lentiviral proteins encoded by HIV-1/HIV-2, the causative agents of AIDS, or the related simian immunodeficiency viruses (SIV). We aim to understand how host factors (or the so-called restriction factors) inhibit the virus and how the virus escapes or inactivates those factors.
Recently, we have launched a screen to identify and characterize new host antiviral factors. We will then investigate whether potential candidates in different host species show an antiviral effect against SIV or HIV viruses or whether they could be manipulated to acquire such antiviral effect. Ultimately, we hope to uncover new blocks to viral infection together with potential viral antagonists. The recruited post-doc will be involved in the analysis of our screen and in the following decisions (undertaking new screens or not, study of new potential antiviral proteins). Simultaneously, the post-doc will contribute to the ongoing study of the lab with the aim to understand how the HUSH complex, repressor of HIV expression, is counteracted by divergent lentiviral proteins.
The agent recruited will be responsible for:
Experimental and intellectual work to address project issues.
Supervision of students in the laboratory.
