As the Planning Director, you'll play a pivotal role in providing technical expertise to municipal officials, collaborating with various boards and committees, and implementing essential planning and code regulations. Desired Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelors or higher degree in land-use or urban planning, public administration, civil engineering,economic development, or a related field.Five (5) years of related municipal experience preferred; and Experience in planning, project management, economic and community development, grant writing, or related field; orAny equivalent combination of education and experience.Membership in the American Institute of Certified Planners is desired.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of and experience in community development and economic development, including business and real estate.Working knowledge of grant sources, writing, and management.Thorough knowledge of municipal government. Working knowledge of State/Federal agencies and laws.Extensive knowledge of planning programs and processes; thorough knowledge of impact analysis, environmental regulations, land use planning, zoning laws, comprehensive plans, site plan review.Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing; and to moderate and facilitatemeetings.Ability to work independently, carry out assignments from general instructions, and to follow precise rules and guidelines when necessary.Ability to interpret complex information.Ability and initiative to use resourcefulness and tact in meeting new problems.Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, Town Management, Town Council, technical professionals, applicants and the public.Starting salary: The salary depends on your experience and certification.
