Offer Description SCHADOC is a COFUND doctoral program hosted at Aix-Marseille University (amU), designed as an interdisciplinary, intersectoral and international training initiative. SCHADOC will recruit 40 fellows for 36 months over the course of two calls (20 fellows in 2025 and 20 fellows in 2026) to develop thesis research projects in relation with four thematic axes:
Societies and culture
Climate change and environmental challenges
Health and well-being
Artificial Intelligence and its applications
SCHADOC offers two ways to be embarked in the program:
Bottom-up projects : for students willing to submit their own thesis project. The submission portal will be open from December 2nd, 2024 to January 13th, 2025. At this stage, having a supervisor is not required. We will support candidates to find a proper one at amU.
Top-down projects : The project is proposed by a supervisor from amU together with a co-supervisor. The call for project will open on January 6th, 2025, and a call for candidates to apply to these projects will be launched on May 3rd, 2025.
The current call concerns students willing to submit their own thesis project.

Minimum Requirements Eligible applicants are Early Stage researchers complying with the following criteria:
Not to be in possession of a doctorate or register to another doctoral program;
Have less than 4 years of full-time research experience at the call deadline. Research experience is calculated from the time the first diploma obtained allowing to embark on a doctorate;
Candidates cannot have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in France for more than 12 months during the 36 months preceding the call deadline;
Be, at the time of recruitment , in possession of the master's degree or equivalent diploma which formally allows to embark on a doctorate in France;
Have a minimum level of English proficiency equivalent to B1 (read, write, speak) based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (B1= intermediate/ independent user).
