Offer Description The candidate will join the RMS team of the TIMA laboratory under the supervision of Professors Sylvain Bourdel and Florence Podevin. The thesis work will focus on adapting a voltage-controlled millimeter-wave oscillator architecture for new applications. Initially, the candidate will carry out a measurement campaign on an oscillator version designed using B55x technology.
Subsequently, the candidate will need to adapt the existing architecture for four new applications:
Optimized performance trade-off generation.
For each of these four applications, the candidate will explore the limitations of this new architecture and propose a design that achieves maximum performance (the highest possible frequency, the lowest possible noise, the minimum possible power consumption, and the best figure of merit for trade-offs).
Each study will result in a circuit to be designed using ST-Microelectronics' B55x technology. The circuits will be fabricated and measured in the laboratory.
Each solution must include a theoretical study reflecting the architecture's dependency on the optimized metric (frequency, phase noise, power consumption, and FoM).
Each study should lead to a publication in a famous journal or conference in the corresponding field.
