Open position of doctor for the exercise of scientific research activities in the scientific area of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences By order dated September 17th, 2024, of the Rector of the University of Évora, it was deliberated to open an international selection contest for the position of doctor for the exercise of scientific research activities in the scientific area of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, under a fixed term public service work contract regime with the duration of three years, possibly renewable for periods of one year up to a maximum duration of six years, pursuant to Decree-Law Nº. 57/2016, of 29th August.
The functional framework of the researcher to be hired includes the regular execution of research and development activities and all other scientific and technical activities within the framework of the projects, as well as:
Participation in the design, development, and execution of research and development projects and related scientific and technical activities.
Collaboration in the work developed within the scope of the projects in which the candidate is involved.
Collaboration in the development of training actions in the field of research and development methodology.
Supervision of research work carried out by grant holders, research interns, and research assistants.
Support in coordinating joint activities at CER, in the design, procurement, commissioning, and testing of experimental infrastructures.
Support in the definition and evaluation of potential environmental impacts and the development of new methodologies or solutions for their mitigation or resolution.
Participation in the institution's training programs, particularly in supporting teaching activities for 2nd and 3rd cycle courses related to CER's research area.
The place of work is situated in the University of Évora – in the facilities assigned to the Renewable Energies Chair. The gross monthly remuneration to be paid is 2.294,95€ corresponding to level 33 of the Single Salary Table.
Candidates eligible for the competition may include national, foreign, and stateless individuals who hold a PhD in a field related to the scientific area of the competition. They must also possess a scientific and professional curriculum that demonstrates a profile suitable for the activity to be developed, with:
Previous experience in research activities related to the analysis and assessment of landscape and ecosystem impacts caused by photovoltaic power plants.
Knowledge of flora in mainland Portugal, vegetation dynamics, and climate change.
Knowledge of land use planning, including regulations and legislation.
Knowledge of methodologies for disseminating and protecting innovation resulting from R&D activities.
Ability to develop educational content and conduct training and capacity-building activities.
Proficiency in English, with strong communication and scientific writing skills.
