Open an International Selection Contest for the Position of Doctor in Biological Sciences
1. By order dated September 30th, 2024, of the Rector of the University of Évora, it was decided to open an international selection contest for the position of doctor for the exercise of scientific research activities in the scientific area of Biological Sciences, under a fixed-term public service work contract regime with a duration of three years, possibly renewable for periods of one year up to a maximum duration of six years.
2. Applicable legislation includes Decree-Law No. 57/2016 of August 29th, which approves the doctor hiring regime to stimulate scientific and technological employment in all areas of knowledge, and the Regulation for the Evaluation of the Performance of Doctoral Researchers at the University of Évora.
3. The workplace is located at the University of Évora - MED, Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development, University of Évora, Polo da Mitra, APT 94, 7006 -554 Évora, Portugal.
4. The monthly remuneration is €2,294.95, corresponding to level 33 of the Single Salary Table.
5. Candidates must hold a doctorate degree in Biological Sciences and possess a scientific and professional curriculum suited to the following conditions:
Experience of at least 3 years in ecological monitoring of Mediterranean systems.
Experience in developing and implementing protocols for sampling environmental results in the Montado ecosystem.
Experience in developing action plans for biodiversity and good practice guides.
Experience in facilitating the integration of stakeholders in scientific projects.
Experience in database management.
Experience in statistical and ecological data analysis.
Experience in GIS analysis and ecological data modeling.
Experience in preparing, submitting proposals, and participating in R&D projects related to the management and conservation of the Montado ecosystem.
At least 3 publications as first author in Q1 journals indexed in Web of Science in the last five years (2019-2023).
Experience working in a team on national and international projects.
Excellent command of Portuguese and English, written and spoken.
Driving license.
6. Applications must be formalized via an official request form sent to the President of the Jury, including identification details and supporting documentation as specified in the job description.
7. The selection process will evaluate candidates based on their scientific and curricular career.
8. The final decision will be validated by the head of the institution, who is also responsible for the contracting process.
9. This contest is exclusively destined to fill this specific vacancy and can be terminated at any time until the approval of the final candidate list.
