Not funded by a EU programme Reference Number: #NOVAID233 - Notice for International Call to hire a PhD Res Offer Description Type of contract and applicable legislation: The hiring of the PhD Researcher shall be made by means of an Unfixed Term Employment Contract entered into in accordance with the Portuguese Labour Code approved by the Law no. 7/2009 of February 12th, as amended. The contract should have a forecasted duration of 3 months and should not be extended further than the project duration and its new funding contracts. The contract should begin in October 2024. Main attributions and activities: The PhD Researcher will study the production technology of archaeological glass fragments found in Portugal which are composed of several coloured glass layers. The PhD Researcher should be familiar with the following analytical techniques: UV-Vis, Particle-induced X-ray emission (µ-PIXE) and Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) to interpret the data resulting from these analyses. Additionally, familiarity with the Portuguese glass history of the Late-Medieval and Modern period (15th to 17th centuries) is required. Experience in the study of glass mechanisms to propose and adapt conservation strategies for better preservation of artifacts is strongly recommended. The PhD Researcher will also support classes and projects of Bachelor and Master students in Conservation and Restoration. Place of work: The PhD Researcher's working place shall be at the premises of VICARTE located in Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade Nova de Lisboa - Campus da Caparica and may require travel in Portugal or abroad as necessary for the role. Monthly remuneration: The PhD Researcher shall earn a monthly remuneration in the gross amount of €2,294.95, based on the 1st grade of the salary scale, pursuant to Decree-Law no. 57/2016 of 19 July, as amended.
