In accordance with Article 11 of Decree-Law No. 57/2016 of August 29, it is hereby made public that, by order of Professor Sónia Dias, Director, dated 18 of November 2024, authorization has been granted for the opening of an international selection recruitment process for a period of 15 working days from the day immediately following the publication in Diário da República, for the recruitment of a Doctoral Researcher in the category of Assistant Researcher, under an open-ended fixed-term employment contract, at the National School of Public Health of NOVA University Lisbon. The Doctoral Researcher will conduct scientific research activities in the field of Health Promotion, in the scope of the project "NEMESIS - Novel Effect biomarkers for MEtabolic disruptorS: evidence on health Impacts to answer science and policy needS", reference number 101137405, funded by the European Commission.
This international documentary recruitment process is governed by the provisions of Decree-Law No. 57/2016 of August 29, as amended by Law No. 57/2017 of July 19. This law approves a hiring regime for doctoral candidates aimed at stimulating scientific and technological employment in all fields of knowledge (RJEC).
1. Activities and Functions
The selected candidate will perform the duties of an Assistant Researcher, and the activities to be developed are part of the research project "NEMESIS". The candidate is expected to promote citizen engagement in the chemicals' policies development processes, raise awareness and knowledge about these chemicals and their health impacts, and encourage the adoption of preventive behaviors. More specifically, the performance of the following activities is expected:
Operationally coordinate the work to be developed within the scope of the project, including planning and coordination of fieldwork (e.g., study protocols' preparation, conducting interviews, focus groups, surveys, development and testing of health messages, analysis of quantitative and qualitative data), dissemination activities, and project management support;
Collaborate in the writing of scientific papers;
Supervise and evaluate the work carried out by research fellows and students involved in ongoing research projects;
Collaborate in the development of training activities in research methodology and other relevant areas;
Collaborate in defining research priorities at the institution;
Participate in the design, development, and execution of research projects with multidisciplinary teams;
Promote activities aimed at securing external resources for funding scientific research.
2. General Admission Requirements:
National, foreign, and stateless candidates holding a scientific and professional curriculum that demonstrates a profile suitable for the activity to be developed may apply, with the following requirements:
Hold a PhD degree in Health Promotion or related fields, duly registered and/or recognized in Portugal;
Possess a relevant scientific curriculum in Health Communication and/or Behavioral Change;
Have experience in conducting studies and data analysis involving quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
3. Specific Admission Requirements:
Relevant postdoctoral scientific experience within the last 5 years;
Professional experience in international health research projects;
Participation in national and/or international networks in Health Promotion;
Enthusiasm for multidisciplinary scientific research and interest in public health issues;
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Portuguese;
Immediate availability.
4. Hiring and Remuneration:
The hiring is through an open-ended fixed-term employment contract under the Labor Code, with remuneration corresponding to index 195, first remuneration position of the Assistant Researcher category, which corresponds to a gross monthly remuneration of €3,427.59.
The contract is expected to start in January 2025 and will last until the completion of the activities/functions in the project.
5. Workplace:
The workplace is located at the National School of Public Health (ENSP NOVA), Avenida Padre Cruz, 1600-560 Lisbon.

The selection is carried out through the evaluation of the scientific and curricular background, focusing on the relevance and quality of the scientific production and professional activity.
