BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven individual to join as Metallurgy & Cleanliness Technician at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key Accountabilities
Perform metallurgy tests based on the established procedure as scheduled
Perform metallographic analysis in the laboratory for validation of parts and compliance with the welding, porosity, defects and other issues
Perform, together with the metrology technician, the annual plan for product audits
Perform and support other departments in Failure Analysis and Root Cause Corrective Action for process and part anomalies or Quality check failures, warranties, customer incidents, production incidents, tests, improvement plans and others that are necessary
Scan and file laboratory reports accordingly
Create and maintain test instrument and test method documentation
Plan and follow up on laboratory activities
Manage the inventory of test pieces and chemicals to ensure the smooth operation of lab activity
Perform internal equipment verification as stated in respective working instruction
Coordinate the calibration activities of equipment used by metallurgy and cleanliness laboratory
Evaluate PPAP samples (Product Part Approval Process)
Conduct Product Audits according to the VDA 6.5 standard
Perform tests and detection of particles according to ISO 16232 standards and customer specifications
Maintain the cleanliness and 5S of the working environment at all times
Maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and core values
Comply with and maintain the Laboratory Manual and quality procedures within its area of responsibility
Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality, and productivity standards
Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations Code of Ethics, practice, and working period
Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules
Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which they were hired, when the needs or convenience of service so warrant, for the period necessary for the aforementioned needs or convenience of service
Education & Experience
Secondary education in a related technical area
Preferably higher education courses related to Laboratory
Experience in preparing material samples (grind, polish and etch) for metallographic examination
Experience in performing cleanliness tests according to VDA and ISO 16232
Knowledge of technical design (preferred)
Knowledge of laboratory techniques according to ISO 17025 (preferred)
Knowledge of calibration, including uncertainty calculation (preferred)
Knowledge of MSA - Measurement System Analysis and R&R - Repeatability and Reproducibility (preferential)
Good computer skills
