BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven individual to join as Metallurgy & Cleanliness Technician at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key Accountabilities
Perform metallurgy tests based on the established procedure as scheduledPerform metallographic analysis in the laboratory for validation of parts and compliance with the welding, porosity, defects and other issuesPerform, together with the metrology technician, the annual plan for product auditsPerform and support other departments in Failure Analysis and Root Cause Corrective Action for process and part anomalies or Quality check failures, warranties, customer incidents, production incidents, tests, improvement plans and others that are necessaryScan and file laboratory reports accordinglyCreate and maintain test instrument and test method documentationPlan and follow up on laboratory activitiesManage the inventory of test pieces and chemicals to ensure the smooth operation of lab activityPerform internal equipment verification as stated in respective working instructionCoordinate the calibration activities of equipment used by metallurgy and cleanliness laboratoryEvaluate PPAP samples (Product Part Approval Process)Conduct Product Audits according to the VDA 6.5 standardPerform tests and detection of particles according to ISO 16232 standards and customer specificationsMaintain the cleanliness and 5S of the working environment at all timesMaintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and core valuesComply with and maintain the Laboratory Manual and quality procedures within its area of responsibilityComply with environmental, health and safety, quality, and productivity standardsComply with the organization's rules and internal regulations Code of Ethics, practice, and working periodRespect workplace safety and cleanliness rulesPerform other tasks not included in the activity for which they were hired, when the needs or convenience of service so warrant, for the period necessary for the aforementioned needs or convenience of serviceEducation & Experience
Secondary education in a related technical areaPreferably higher education courses related to LaboratoryExperience in preparing material samples (grind, polish and etch) for metallographic examinationExperience in performing cleanliness tests according to VDA and ISO 16232Knowledge of technical design (preferred)Knowledge of laboratory techniques according to ISO 17025 (preferred)Knowledge of calibration, including uncertainty calculation (preferred)Knowledge of MSA - Measurement System Analysis and R&R - Repeatability and Reproducibility (preferential)Good computer skillsConflict ManagementQuality decision makingResults OrientedInterpersonal CommunicationFluent in EnglishFluent in PortugueseEEO Statement
