Accountabilities:
The Medical HealthCare Partner – Vaccines and Immune Therapies (V&I) is a scientific and healthcare expert in the field, fostering a new way of adding value to the Health System and impacting patients' lives. This role focuses on engaging in high-level scientific exchange, building and maintaining peer-to-peer relationships with external experts, understanding and uncovering unmet medical needs, and implementing innovative projects or solutions related to a specific AZ Therapeutic Area (TA).
What you'll do:
Contribute to the comprehensive understanding of the HealthCare System Pathways of the TA under scope.
Actively map top stakeholders in the TA area and collect initiatives and insights from the Healthcare System that can contribute to the improvement of patient pathways.
Proactively drive and/or support sustainable system transformation for patient management.
Work in a cross-functional team as a medical-scientific expert in the therapeutic area.
Help develop the medical strategy and its implementation within the framework of the integrated plan, based on external environment insights and actions collected from the field.
Prepare, manage, execute, and follow a tailored field medical and communication plan aligned with TA and vision to transform care strategy.
Build and maintain peer-level relationships with key external experts to support understanding of the Portuguese healthcare ecosystem & clinical dynamics.
Support local, regional, and global AstraZeneca clinical research programs and externally sponsored research projects.
Foster opportunities to create real-world evidence data generation projects in collaboration with the medical and X-FT team.
Partner with other internal stakeholders providing medical-scientific contribution on account working.
Help set up and provide medical-scientific training and further education in your therapeutic area for the sales force, X-Ft Team, and other AZ personnel.
Support the Medical Governance Team (Medical Information/Patient Safety) in handling external medical and scientific requests.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Advanced university degree in a health-related scientific field (PhD or MSc in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, or other related scientific fields).
Good understanding of Immunology and Vaccines area, and execution of medical affairs plans.
Professional experience working in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably in a field medical role or within Medical Affairs in the assigned therapeutic area; experience within Clinical research will also be considered.
Experience with Healthcare Transformation initiatives in NHS or industry is a plus.
Thorough knowledge of local regulatory and market access requirements related to medical affairs activities.
Comprehensive knowledge of the legal and ethical framework and procedural guidelines that apply to the promotion and approval of medicinal products in Portugal.
Quick self-learner, ability, and willingness to work in a team and independently.
Communicative competence and presentation skills.
Very good knowledge of spoken and written Portuguese.
Very good command of written and spoken English.
High level of scientific knowledge and ability to analyse and process clinical and scientific data.
Experience liaising with healthcare professionals.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex technical, scientific, or medical information to broad audience types.
