Power Solutions & Vestas Quality > Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Lubrication & MBA The Powertrain Module in Vestas Power Solutions is responsible for developing the complete Vestas powertrain for both onshore and offshore wind turbines. The module consists of 3 submodules, Lubrication & MBA (Main Bearing Arrangement), Gearbox, and Generator. The Lubrication & MBA submodule is responsible and accountable for the design solutions of (i) the powertrain lubrication system, (ii) the main bearings and (iii) the structural components.
This position is for the Lubrication & MBA submodule group and more specifically for the structural design of the Main Bearing Arrangement in Porto.

Responsibilities Identify - Design - Optimize - ValidateDesign the load carrying components included bolts and welded connectionsEvaluate material properties and select appropriate materials for structural componentsPerform material analysis to assess if requirements are metCost-Optimize the structure using dedicated tools and following the Vestas development process Way to MarketPlan together with the Project Manager the technical activities following the Vestas stage gate model.Deliver the complete verification and validation documentation of the MBA structure including certificationDefine and participate in testing campaignsPropel VA/VE activities to optimize owned components to product cost to required performancesContribute to the Technology Roadmap to assure the submodule growth in line with market developmentMonitor and contribute to improve the fleet performance of the MBA structure over the value chainWork closely with suppliers enabling Design for ManufacturingQualifications Master's degree in Structural or Materials EngineeringYou have industry experience within design (R&D) of large casting and bearing arrangementsComprehensive understanding of materials science and mechanical behaviorSpecific work experience within the wind industry is beneficial but not requiredEnthusiastic about practical work on tests and verification as well as theoretical knowledgeFluency in EnglishLoad analysis and applicationCalculation of casted structures (analytic and FEA)Extreme and fatigue analysisMaterial analysis and StatisticsDesign for manufacturingBolted and welded jointsContact settingsQuality development tools (requirements, DFMEA, verification, validation)Project managementWhat we offer We offer an exciting job in a creative and international environment.
