The Powertrain Module in Vestas Power Solutions is responsible for developing the complete Vestas powertrain for both onshore and offshore wind turbines. The module consists of 3 submodules, Lubrication & MBA (Main Bearing Arrangement), Gearbox, and Generator. The Lubrication & MBA submodule is responsible and accountable for the design solutions of (i) the powertrain lubrication system, (ii) the main bearings and (iii) the structural components.
This position is for the Lubrication & MBA submodule group and more specifically for the structural design of the Main Bearing Arrangement in Porto.

Responsibilities
Identify - Design - Optimize - Validate
Lead and develop system/component design work within project scope
Ensure that the technical scope is fully specified and developed, integrates technically with the value chain, and is within the quality, time, and costs targets of the project
Responsible for system/component level documentation
Represent system/component towards other systems, component and product level
Identifying, documenting, communicating, and mitigating technical risks within the project technical scope
Cost-Optimize the structure using dedicated tools and following the Vestas development process Way to Market
Plan together with the Project Manager the technical activities following the Vestas stage gate model.
Deliver the complete verification and validation documentation of the full MBA including certification
Define and participate to testing campaigns
Propel VA/VE activities to optimize owned components to product cost to required performances
Contribute to the Technology Roadmap to assure the submodule growth in line with market development
Monitor and contribute to improve the fleet performance of the MBA over the value chain
Qualifications
Master's degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering
Min. 3 years of experience from a relevant industry
You have industry experience within design (R&D) of large casting and bearing arrangement
Good technical understanding
Specific work experience within the wind industry is beneficial but not required
Enthusiastic about practical work on tests and verification as well as theoretical knowledge
Fluency in English
Load analysis and application
Calculation of casted structures (analytic and FEA) and support bearings
Extreme and fatigue analysis
Design for Manufacturing and System Engineering
Bolted and welded joints, Contact settings
Quality development tools (requirements, DFMEA, verification, validation)
Project and Stakeholder management
Capable of identifying and breaking down project scope to concrete deliverables within professional area
