Our strong operations and commercialization expertise result in high volume availability of competitive, efficient products that truly drive change.BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as a Manufacturing Technician - AOI at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.Key Accountabilities:Support SMT, board assembly, manufacturing, and testing operations by maintaining (including required semi-annual/annual PMs), improving, and ensuring calibration of equipment and processes including SPI (Solder Paste Inspection), AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), and VCMI (Vehicle Communication Measurement Interface).Develop SPI and AOI programs for new launches.Provide new AOI equipment and improvement project management, which includes managing suppliers, internal and external project timelines, open issue lists, shipment and installation, and run-off/acceptance, and providing professional updates to the team on the progress of projects.Use structured, data-driven tools for problem solving and inspection improvement.Work with other engineering competencies to ensure designs are optimized and deliver the highest FTQ values.Work with purchasing to develop RFQs and identify equipment providers for the new equipment and improvements.Provide technical expertise during new equipment and improvement quote evaluation and supplier selection.Work with customers and management to implement changes and address problems.Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards.Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule.Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules.Respect and comply with environmental policy rules.Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it, for the period necessary for the said needs or conveniences of service.Identify & implement process cost reductions.Maintain manufacturing excellence on all equipment.Work in a team environment with Quality and Application Engineers on current production issues and future customer programs.Identify and close safety issues (suggestions, inspection and investigation findings, hazards, and controls).Identify safety equipment and provide safety training on production processes.Travel to suppliers to monitor development activities.Education & ExperienceDegree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or Technology equivalent.Minimum 3-5 years' experience with manufacturing assembly processes (preferred).Min. 3 years working experience in SMT/THT processes and equipment (preferred).Working knowledge of vehicle system level components and functions.Manufacturing experience in Electric & Hybrid Systems preferred.Solid understanding of Engineering financials (Cap-Ex Planning and equipment costing).Experience in high volume manufacturing.Deep understanding of Lean Manufacturing, PPAP, and AIAG Manufacturing requirements.Analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, Shainin or Six Sigma training a plus).Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese.Strong computer skills in Windows applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project).Design tools (SolidWorks, ProE, or AutoCAD).Ability to work effectively across functional and geographic boundaries.Ability to work in a team environment.
