BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as Manufacturing Engineer - SMT/CBA at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement manufacturing process technologies, methods, and techniques to assist and promote the building of reliable, high quality Electronics assemblies at the lowest possible cost.Develop and maintain product assembly procedures for SMT and CBA.Support SMT and THT Manufacturing operations and NPI (New project introduction) by programming equipment, maintaining (including required semi-annual / annual PM's), and improving performance and yield of equipment and processes.Know-how of solder paste print, SMT placement, solder reflow ovens, SPI (Solder Paste Inspection), AOI (Automated Optical Inspection), CBA Wave and selective soldering, conveyors and handlers.Support new product development teams regarding manufacturing capabilities, techniques and issues related to design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).Identify, specify, validate, document, implement, and train on new equipment and processes.Design wave/selective soldering and support production fixtures to aid in the assembly of product while improving operator safety/comfort, reducing labor cost and improving quality.Assist in the preparation of new product tooling cost estimates.Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, changeovers, and costs.Work in a team environment with Quality and Manufacturing Engineers on current production.
Support product and manufacturing issues and respond to internal and external customer requests for changes, improvements and future customer programs.Work with Customers and Management to implement changes and address problems.Travel to suppliers to monitor development activities.Comply with safety, quality, productivity, hygiene and environmental prevention standards.Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations Code of Ethics, Practice and Schedule.Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules.Respect and comply with environmental policy rules.Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he was hired, when the needs or convenience of the service justify it.Education & Experience Bachelor of Science in Engineering Electrical Engineering preferred, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation.Minimum 2 years of Engineering experience made up of multi-year experience with SMT/CBA.Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the Organization.Manufacturing Engineering Production Support experience.Multi-site or multi-customer experience highly preferred.Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, a plus.Strong organizational, time management, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbal and written.Analytical, technical, and statistical skills.Good problem solving capabilities.Fluent in English and Portuguese.Availability for international business travels.EEO Statement BorgWarner is an equal employment opportunity employer such that all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin or disability.
