FCCN is a unit of FCT - Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (Foundation for Science and Technology) - with the primary mission of equipping the Portuguese academic and research communities with the technological means to produce excellent science and knowledge. We are committed to ensuring Technology for Knowledge. To help us in this mission, we intend to reinforce our team with a Manager of Systems Infrastructure . Integrated into the Network Services Area and the Digital Identity and Systems team, this Manager's primary mission will be to lead the team responsible for developing and operating the RCTS and the several support systems of the RCTS network. The Digital Identity Service has three areas of action: the RCTS Identity Federation (RCTSaai and CIÊNCIA ID), the qualified digital certificates issuance service (RCTS Certificates), and the management of the tools monitoring and information systems of the RCTS.

Responsibilities Lead a team of specialists in Digital Identity and Systems, create a continuous learning environment, and promote team motivation; Establish goals and objectives for the team, promoting collaboration and innovation; Develop and implement the strategy for Digital Identity and support systems for the RCTS network, specifically: Ensure, together with the rest of the team, the maintenance and operation of the RCTS Identity Federation (RCTSaai and CIÊNCIA ID); Promote the strategic planning of the RCTSaai Federation and its international articulation through participation in the eduGAIN Confederation; Ensure the maintenance of the qualified digital certificates issuance service (RCTS Certificates); Lead the development of monitoring and information systems supporting the RCTS Network and the RCTS Federation.
We are looking for people with the skills and experience described below, but especially those interested in the technological field and motivated to take on the challenge of being part of a highly specialized team and serving the education and research community, contributing to developing quality and innovative services.
Main requirements Higher education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with proven experience in leading technical teams. Strong operating system administration (Linux), networks, and virtualization knowledge. Experience with automation and configuration management technologies (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef). Knowledge of cloud service management (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid environments. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions in high-pressure situations. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Fluency in English (spoken and written).
