LEGAL COUNSEL Atradius Collections is one of the world's leading commercial debt collection agencies and a world-class credit management organization. We are looking for an experienced colleague to fill the position of an in-house lawyer (Legal Counsel) in our central Legal and Compliance Department. The person in this position will provide expert legal advice (with a focus on GDPR, commercial law, and contract law) related to the company's day-to-day operations. This role involves working closely with the business to ensure its success and profitability.
The position is within the Iberia & South America region and the North America region, which includes several countries such as Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The Legal Counsel is expected to be based in Madrid or Lisbon and will report to the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager.
Responsibilities Provide legal, regulatory, and compliance advice to Atradius Collections' day-to-day activities in the Iberia & South America region and the North America region.Draft, negotiate, and review a wide variety of contracts, including service level agreements, supply agreements, and account receivables agreements.Provide guidance on corporate governance matters, such as preparing minutes of the Board of Directors and the Shareholders' meetings.Contribute to data protection matters related to adherence to data protection legislation and internal procedures.Enhance compliance policies and procedures to improve internal controls to comply with laws and regulations.Monitor industry developments and maintain knowledge of new and amended laws and regulations impacting Atradius Collections' operations.Support the Group Compliance Department in managing risk related to international sanctions.Collaborate with business colleagues to achieve targeted business results while managing legal risks.Maintain strong connections with other members of the Legal and Compliance Department.Perform other legal tasks and projects as assigned by the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager.Job Requirements: Knowledge, Education and Experience A university degree in Law with good academic credentials and post-qualification experience.3-5 years of relevant experience as in-house counsel or an attorney in a law firm.Strong knowledge of GDPR and experience working with contracts.Fluent in English and Spanish; Portuguese is an advantage.Detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and resourceful.Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Excellent communication and negotiation skills.What do we offer?
