The Lab Technician Intern position will have as the main task the work in specific projects in the EA Technical Hot Melt Team in Portugal, namely the physical characterization of Hot-Melts with potential to be used in the Engineer Adhesives portfolio, upload of technical information into computer base format, and leverage the use of the analytical equipment to the hot-melt technology.
This position is located in Mindelo - Portugal.
Primary Duties
This is a laboratory bench level position. The Lab Technician Intern will give the necessary support to the EA Technical Hot Melt Team in Portugal in specific projects where systematic actions are required.
Primary duties include:
Characterization of physical and chemical properties of the non-reactive hot-melt portfolio for the Engineer Adhesives business unit.
Data upload of technical information into a computer base format.
Evaluate, adapt and adjust instrumental analytical methods available in Mindelo to the Hot-Melt technology (to work as predictive tools).
Characterization of raw materials.
Other characterizations that eventually might be needed.
Working in a safe and efficient manner.
Upon request of the manager, the Lab Technician Intern may need additionally to assist development activities by performing:
Trials and tests necessary for the development of new products, the re-engineering of existing products and the process of analyzing new raw materials, carrying out and maintaining the necessary records inherent to the work performed.
Preparation of samples of the products developed to carry out tests on customers.
Analysis of competitive products necessary for the development process.
The Lab Technician Intern should:
Ensure the conservation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, inform the manager of the need for repair or replacement of laboratory equipment that does not offer the minimum conditions of use.
Archive the retained samples of the laboratory's productions and experimental products.
Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory's facilities, equipment and test material.
Ensure the maintenance of files related to R&D in the areas in which he/she operates.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards in the work performed and work in a safe and efficient manner.
Minimum Requirements
High School degree in chemistry field
Professional High School in chemistry area
Post high school course with the level 5 qualification
Incomplete university graduation degree
ABILITY TO PERFORM LABORATORY TASKS ACCURATELY AND EXPEDITIOUSLY.
