THE ROLE We are looking for a Junior Platform Engineer with enthusiasm for learning and creative problem-solving skills who would be an excellent fit for our dynamic team. As part of this team, you will implement, evolve, maintain, and improve our observability stack. The stack relies on cutting-edge open-source solutions that empower our production services and support our teams of software engineers. WHAT YOU'LL DOWork with CloudNative observability components such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Thanos.Have the opportunity to work with and develop expertise in Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, Loki, Tempo, and other open-source technologies.Contribute to these open-source tools, fostering community growth and collaboration within the broader tech ecosystem.Assist in the development and maintenance of observability stack building and deploying tools in Kubernetes.Engage in the collection, analysis, and visualization of telemetry data, logs, traces, and metrics.Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in observability and contribute creative ideas for continuous improvement of our observability frameworks.Participate in code reviews and team meetings to share knowledge and ensure high-quality deliverables.Participate in agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to promote team alignment and continuous improvement.Embrace an agile mindset that values flexibility and responsiveness, adapting to changing priorities while maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality results.WHO YOU AREGraduate or higher in Computer Science or other technical discipline, or related practical experienceFamiliarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.Basic coding skills in Python, Go, C# or another programming language.Understanding of cloud environments (Farfetch uses Azure).Familiarity with Linux.Possess a basic understanding of network fundamentals and application protocols (ex: HTTP, gRPC).A creative problem-solver who enjoys thinking outside the box to develop innovative solutions.A collaborative team player, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges.Proficient in English - written and verbal communication skillsEQUAL OPPORTUNITIES STATEMENTFARFETCH is an equal opportunities employer ensuring that all applicants are treated equally and fairly throughout our recruitment process.
