KAI is an independent non-profit association of municipalities from the federal states of Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein in the field of administrative digitization and IT operations. It is managed by the Hanseatic City of Buxtehude. The KAI currently comprises 36 towns and municipalities. The aim of the KAI is to initiate and coordinate the transfer of knowledge and inter-municipal cooperation between the member municipalities in the areas of administrative digitization and IT operations. In particular, the bundling of demand for the inter-municipal procurement and implementation of information and communication technology is an essential element of the KAI's field of activity.
