The Head Nurse (enfermeiro/a chefe) will oversee the nursing department, ensuring all patients receive the highest quality of care. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive nursing experience, and a passion for patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Provide direct patient care, utilizing nursing processes to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
Administer medications, treatments, and other medical interventions as required, ensuring patient safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, procedures, medications, and ongoing care needs.
Respond to medical emergencies, providing immediate and appropriate care.
Managerial Duties:
Supervise and support nursing staff, including scheduling shifts, assigning duties, and overseeing training and development programs.
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and procedures.
Develop and implement departmental policies to improve patient care outcomes.
Manage budgets, allocate resources, and order supplies necessary for the efficient operation of the nursing department.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
Address and resolve concerns from patients, their families, and staff members in a timely and effective manner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Portugal.
Minimum of 2-4 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
Advanced knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in using healthcare software.
