Overall Purpose:
Reporting to the Agronomy Director, the Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the management and maintenance of all areas of the golf course, ensuring top quality playing conditions and coordination of the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Course Management and Maintenance: Maintain all areas of the golf course (greens, fairways, bunkers, tees, roughs) to established standards. Implement fertilization, irrigation, and pest control programs, focusing on water efficiency and environmental preservation.
Team Planning and Management: Lead, train and supervise the maintenance team. Prepare work schedules and promote a safe environment, assuring compliance with safety standards.
Resource and Equipment Management: Supervise the maintenance and operation of field equipment. Manage the inventory of materials and control the maintenance budget.
Sustainability and Innovation: Implement sustainable maintenance practices in line with environmental policies. Keep up to date with new technologies and maintenance techniques.
Relationship with Management/Direction: Communicate regularly with field management about the state of the field and maintenance needs. Coordinate with management and the operations team to ensure an optimal player experience.
Requirements:
Technical or higher education in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Turfgrass Management or related areas.
At least 3 years' experience in a similar role on high-quality golf courses.
Advanced knowledge of turf maintenance practices, irrigation systems, pest control, and environmental sustainability.
Ability to lead and manage teams, with a strong focus on quality and operational efficiency.
Fluency in Portuguese and/or English.
Good organizational skills, autonomy, and problem-solving capabilities.
