What You'll Do The Global Risk Function's goal is to proactively detect, manage and mitigate risks at BCG while addressing the evolving business needs and the ever-changing risk landscape of the firm.
The Risk Function is comprised of seven teams: Compliance, Assurance & Advisory, Enterprise Risk Management, Strategy & Operations, Data Protection, Global Security, and Information Security.
Collectively, we are all on a mission to enable the business, navigate and mitigate any risks proactively, and protect the business with effective controls.
We support embedding a risk-based mindset to each office, internal function, Managing Director and Partner (MDP), and all employees who ultimately bear the responsibility of our actions as the collective front line at the firm.
The Risk Strategy and Operations (S&O) Team is dedicated to working across the broader Global Risk function and stakeholders to create a holistic strategy to carry forth and execute on the function's vision.
Additionally, the S&O team focuses on operational excellence to drive growth, scale, digitization, identify synergies, and foster a collaborative and positive culture within the Risk to maximize our teams' engagement and value to BCG We are looking to recruit an Analyst to provide support for our team to drive our mission to support operational excellence, foster a OneRisk culture, and execute on strategic Risk initiatives as we support BCG's journey to scale to a $15-20B firm.
In this position you will be working as a part of the Global Risk S&O Team.
You will learn about risks, and the operations behind those risks that BCG as a global organization faces.
You will get exposure to a wide range of risk business functions and learn how to best organize and utilize various functions and resources to achieve the team objectives.
You will get hands-on experience relating to major initiatives as well as smaller ongoing analyses and projects we conduct to manage risk at BCG while working with a team of international colleagues and internal customers.
Additionally, you drive our key functional operations, strive for process improvement and operational excellence.
On a day-to-day basis, you will: Establish robust processes and continuous improvement associated with S&O ongoing activities (Agenda shaping, recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, etc.)
Team closely with our Risk Team working groups and hub leads to execute on core activities (including newsletter, learning events, affiliation events, etc.)
Support and execute on initiatives with our various business partners (HR, Finance, Learning and development) to foster a collaborative OneRisk culture and effective risk organization Develop effective reporting to track KPIs / OKRs for various initiatives intended for senior stakeholders Contribute to the development of our Risk function strategic plans and objectives Developing and executing frameworks and plans for our people agenda and to drive our Employee Value Proposition Support and engage on our strategic risk initiatives to foster a risk aware culture at BCG Designing / facilitating agendas for various team meetings Coordination and organization of team events ensuring equity and connection across our hubs Ad-hoc projects and tasks relevant for the Risk S&O team To be successful in this role, you will need to possess some key attributes including (but not limited to): Interest and passion for learning and gaining skills in all areas of Risk Management and their impacts.
Confident in asking questions and seeking support where needed Ability to organize and prioritize work across a broad range of topics, working effectively with ambiguity and competing priorities and pressing deadlines Take initiative and work independently with little oversight, while bolstering a collaborative team culture Confidence to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality Strong project management skills to assist the team in planning for and conducting various risk-related initiatives (gathering and analyzing data, creating presentations, conducting surveys, providing research, and reporting out on all findings etc.)
Superior verbal and written communication skills (e.g., assisting the team to draft various communications, presentations) Strong data analytical skills and attention to detail (e.g., working with large sets of data, analyzing / summarizing the results for various audiences using different means of communications, noticing patterns and exceptions) Open-minded individual who is willing to offer their suggestions, opinions, or perspectives (e.g., provide the team with thoughts and perspective on how we could improve our process/procedures).
Comfort with abstract concepts and ability to understand various non-financial risks and their impacts Strong research skills to find and synthesize complex industry frameworks and best practices, competitor actions, whitepapers, etc.
What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in business or a relevant field 1-3 years of experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and experience creating creative and effective PowerPoint slides for various audiences Experience with data analytics (e.g., use of pivot tables, vlookup, macros in Excel) and ability to synthesize data into key outputs for leadership.
Experience with Tableau or other Business Intelligence tools is a plus Interest in risk management, strategy, operations, and the consulting industry Ability to adapt and prioritize with a changing workload and comfort with project style work Strong interest in international business, cultures and learning how business practices vary around the world (e.g., researching countries for changes to business landscape).
This role will include working with a team of international colleagues and internal customers.
Prior professional experience is strongly preferred (experience at multi-national professional services firm is a plus) Prior experience working in a team environment; being an effective team player will be a critical success factor in this role Independent thinker who can anticipate next steps and broader thinking beyond immediate tasks Ability to work effectively in a hybrid-virtual environment while fostering and maintaining relationships, and business networks Prior experience in a Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, or policy creation and implementation function is a plus Who You'll Work With This role will support the Risk Strategy and Operations Team and will require frequent interaction with all members of the broader Risk Function, including those located in different geographies and time zones.
