We are seeking a skilled and proactive Geologist with experience in oil and gas exploration and drilling operations. The role involves both office-based geological analysis and field-based activities to optimize drilling operations and enhance resource recovery.
Your key responsibilities will include providing geological support to the drilling team, ensuring accurate interpretation of subsurface conditions, and assisting in the identification and mitigation of potential drilling hazards.
Key Responsibilities: Analyze well logs, cuttings, and core samples to determine formation properties, identify potential reservoir zones, and evaluate drilling risks.
Utilize geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to evaluate reservoir characteristics.
Collaborate closely with the drilling team to provide real-time geological input, ensuring the smooth and safe execution of drilling activities.
Assist in integrating data from mud logs, wireline logs, and drilling logs to improve real-time decision-making during operations.
Identify and assess potential drilling hazards, such as faulting, high-pressure zones, and unstable formations, and provide solutions to mitigate risks.
Monitor drilling activities in real-time, interpreting data to identify any changes in the geological environment that could impact operations.
Work closely with drilling engineers, reservoir engineers, and production teams to optimize well performance and ensure accurate execution of well designs.
Prepare geological reports and documentation detailing subsurface conditions, wellbore placement, and any encountered geological hazards.
Assist in well planning and development by integrating geological insights into drilling program designs, well trajectory optimization, and planning for future exploration or development drilling.
Travel to drilling locations for site assessments, field sampling, and wellsite supervision.
Qualifications: Previous experience in a drilling operations role.
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Petroleum Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a geologist in oil and gas, with at least 2 years of experience working with drilling teams.
Proficiency in geological software such as GeoGraphix, Petrel, Landmark, or other relevant tools.
Strong knowledge of subsurface geology, well-log interpretation, formation evaluation, and mud logging.
Experience with real-time drilling monitoring, geological risk assessment, and well planning.
Strong understanding of reservoir geology and hydrocarbon plays, particularly in exploration and development drilling.
Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team, as well as independently.
Preferred Qualifications: Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., AAPG, SPE, or local geological societies).
Experience with petrophysical analysis and integration of petrophysical data in well evaluation.
Knowledge of the use of geosteering technologies for real-time wellbore placement.
Familiarity with advanced geological modeling techniques and software.
Experience in offshore or unconventional reservoir development.
We would be happy to get to know you and your skills better and see how we can support each other's growth.
Please apply and let's meet!
