Job Title: General Manager - Fashion Production & Design

(YM)COUTURE is a fast-growing luxury clothing manufacturer based in the Algarve region of Portugal, specialising in high-quality, custom-made fashion for corporate clients, fashionpreneurs, and designers.
We are looking for a General Manager with a focus on managing production, samples, and design to drive efficiency and excellence in every step of the fashion production process.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight:
Lead the entire production process, from initial design to sample creation and final product manufacturing.
Ensure all production meets the highest standards of quality, managing every stage efficiently while adhering to timelines.
Oversee the sourcing of materials and components, ensuring alignment with (YM)COUTURE's use of premium materials like Carvico recycled fabrics and Lycra.
Sample & Design Management:
Coordinate the design and sample-making processes, ensuring seamless communication between pattern makers, designers, and production teams.
Manage client approvals for samples, ensuring their vision is accurately translated into the final products.
Optimize the sample-making process for efficiency and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high standards.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the production and design teams, including pattern makers, sketch designers, and sample makers, across different locations, including Portugal and Colombia.
Collaborate closely with the in-house designers to ensure that all tech packs, sketches, and patterns are completed with precision.
Foster a culture of innovation and excellence, encouraging continuous improvement in design and production practices.
Operational Excellence:
Manage production schedules and ensure that projects are completed on time, meeting both client and internal deadlines.
Implement quality control processes to ensure every garment meets (YM)COUTURE's high standards.
Oversee logistics related to material sourcing, sample creation, and shipping, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
Client Collaboration:
Serve as the primary point of contact for design and production-related client needs, working closely with clients during the design and sample phases.
Provide expert guidance to clients on material selection, production methods, and design feasibility.
Qualifications:
Experience:
7+ years of experience in fashion production management, with a strong focus on sample creation and design oversight.
Expertise in luxury and high-end fashion, with experience working with premium materials and handling custom orders.
Proven ability to manage production teams, oversee design processes, and ensure efficient workflow from concept to completion.
Skills:
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills to liaise with both internal teams and clients, ensuring smooth collaboration throughout the production process.
Familiarity with digital production tools, including tech packs, digital patterns, and design software.
Languages:
Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of Portuguese is a plus.
Location:
Willingness to relocate or be based in the Faro region of Algarve, Portugal.
