Position
We are currently looking for a FPGA design engineer for our team in Porto. Our new FPGA Designer will join our R&D department as part of an international team, which is responsible for developing HBK's new product portfolio. These products contribute to a variety of applications across technology sectors such as: Automotive, Electric Drives & Generator, Aerospace, Energy / High-Voltage, Material Testing and Service.
You will join our R&D department and will work in close cooperation with the analog, digital, firmware, software, mechanical and test design engineers locally as well remotely. You will support the full lifecycle of the design phase, from concept through implementation and release including maintenance on active products.
Primary responsibilities
You will be our go to engineer when it comes to FPGA development. You are an experienced developer with a lot of FPGA design knowledge and is also capable of helping set the technical project direction along with the team. Your primary task will be to implement new innovative FPGA designs for measurement devices. Along with that comes the consulting and alignment of your coworkers located in Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, Portugal(Porto) and USA.
Your daily work includes:
Development activities:
FPGA design (both architectural and actual realization)
Digital Signal Processing (digital filters, linearization, and scaling)
Implementing various verification and validation strategies
Work in or adjacent to agile teams (usually Scrum)
Documenting your designs and interfaces
Professional qualifications
Bachelor or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or comparable through proven experience.
Min. 2 years of experience with FPGA development and related quality assurance.
You have a deep understanding of digital electronics and architecture.
Experience with digital signal processing like e.g. digital filtering, linearization, and scaling.
Experience with Xilinx, Altera and/or Microsemi development toolchains, Modelsim and Tcl scripting.
Experienced in using development tools like Altium Designer is a plus.
Personal skills
Good communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Team player, but also able to solve problems individually.
Hands on, able to or used to work from prototype to production phase.
Accurate, practical and result driven personality.
Experience in functional leading a small development team.
Experience in working in international located development team is a plus.
