Offer Description We are seeking a highly motivated technician to support and assist in the operation and services of the Fish Platform of the Champalimaud Foundation. The selected candidate will join a dynamic and detail-oriented team with a strong team spirit.
Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance of stocks of wild type and genetically altered fish lines of multiple species;
Fluorescence and brightfield screens;
Microinjection and establishment of new fish lines;
Collection of tissue samples;
Carry out crosses, housings and embryo care;
Technical assistance to researchers;
Other tasks relevant for the maintenance and development of high scientific and animal welfare standards of the Fish Platform of the Champalimaud Foundation.
Skills/Qualifications Prior work with zebrafish or other teleost biomedical model species;
Experience in maintenance of genetically altered zebrafish lines;
Prior work in a research environment;
Personal animal experimentation license.
This is a full-time position requiring the ability to prioritise efficiently and multitask, without compromising attention to detail and record keeping. The postholder will be asked to work within an on-call rota and to adjust daily duties according to the needs of the Platform. The ideal candidate will be organised, responsible, committed, and a team worker. Strong logical skills are also required.
Specific Requirements Candidates must hold at least a BSc (or equivalent) degree in Life/Biological Sciences;
Strong teamwork skills;
Excellent level of English.
