First Level Doctorate Researcher (CDL-CTTRI-160-SGRH/2024) at University of Aveiro - Project ILLIANCE (Agendas PRR) Public notice Ref.ª CDL-CTTRI-160-SGRH/2024 —Doctor Paulo Jorge dos Santos Gonçalves Ferreira, Full Professor and Rector of the University of Aveiro, hereby announces that for a period of 10 (ten) business days, starting on the first business day immediately after the publication of the present notice, an international public notice is opened for recruitment in the form of a Uncertain Term Work Contract, under the Portuguese Labour Code, for a First Level Doctorate Researcher for research activities in the scientific areas of Physics Engineering. The role involves optimization of an integrated sensor system for monitoring vital parameters (SpO2, respiratory rate, and heart rate), focusing on the optimization of the system's electronic control module, and the development of algorithms for reading and analyzing the raw data from the sensors used, under the "Agenda ILLIANCE" project supported by the PRR - Recovery and Resilience Plan and by NextGenerationEU.
The present public notice was opened on 25 of September, 2024 by order of the Rector of the University of Aveiro, following the proposal of the Scientific Council.
The contest is governed by the provisions of Decree-Law 57/2016, August 29, that approves the rules for post-doctoral work contracts, designed to stimulate employment in science and technology in all areas of knowledge (RJEC) within the legal provisions of the Labor Code, Law no. 7/2009, February 12, in its current wording and other applicable legislation and regulations.
The monthly payment corresponds to €2.294,95.
1— Admission requirements:
Any national, foreign and stateless candidate(s) who hold a doctorate degree in Physics Engineering and a scientific and professional curriculum suited for the activity can submit their applications. Candidates holding qualifications obtained abroad must prove the recognition, equivalence or registration of the doctorate degree, in accordance with the applicable legislation. This formality must be fulfilled up to the date of signing the contract.
2 — Formalisation of the applications:
2.1 — The Applications must be accompanied by the following documents:
Application minute for the competition addressed to the Rector of the University of Aveiro;
Copy of detailed and structured curriculum vitae;
Any other documents that the applicant considers relevant for the assessment of the information referred to in no. 2 of article 5 of the RJEC.
2.2 — The curriculum vitae should contain:
Full name of the candidate;
Copy of the certificate with the respective mark or grade or other document that is legally recognised;
All pertinent information for assessing the application considering the selection and ranking criteria.
2.3 — The application minute must be fully completed, dated and signed, available at this link .
2.4—Submission of the application:
2.4.1— The application may be submitted in Portuguese or in English, by email, to Agendas PRR group of the University of Aveiro until the deadline stipulated in this Notice. The Services will issue a message proving the electronic validation.

2.4.3 — If a classified document is submitted that reveals a commercial or industrial secret, the candidate must identify the document with this information.
2.5 — Non-compliance with the deadline for submission of the application, as well as failure to submit or late submission of the documents, will lead to the disqualification of the application.

4 — Jury operation rules
The jury deliberates approval based on the merit of the overall curriculum of candidates with regards to the scientific area of the Competition and compliance with at least one of the following requisites:
The applicant is the author or co-author of at least 5 articles indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded of the Web of Science or in the SCI Verse Scopus;
Have obtained a total of at least 50 citations in the Science Citation Index Expanded or in the SCI Verse Scopus;
Have an h index of at least 10 according to SCOPUS or Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science.
5— Evaluation and selection:
The selection methods are curricular evaluation and interview. The evaluation focuses on:
Scientific, technological, cultural or artistic production in the last five years;
Applied research activities developed in the last five years;
Knowledge extension and dissemination activities developed in the last five years;
Activities of management of science, technology and innovation programmes.
6— Curricular Evaluation:
This component is expressed on a numerical scale from 0 to 20 considering the following criteria:
Scientific performance of the last five years (16 points);
Extension and knowledge dissemination activities (3 points);
Program management for science, technology and innovation (1 point).
7 — Interview:
The interview will have a maximum duration of 30 minutes and will be assessed on a scale of 0 to 20 based on scientific knowledge and ability to communicate.
8 — Ordering of candidates:
The final score is obtained through a weighted average assigning 90% to the curricular review and 10% to the Interview score.
9— Participation of the parties and decision:
The final ordering project is communicated to candidates by e-mail.
