Uphold is looking for a Financial Manager to join our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity where you'll get to support the European Head of Finance and service both business lines with a greater weighting towards scaling the Optimus Cards business and ensuring the day-to-day financial needs run smoothly.
There may be one direct report and indirect support from teams in Portugal and the US. You get to work in a great company, where we are expanding the business further into Europe by adding to our regulated status for the EEA countries. We are a relatively small company so agile in nature, fast-paced, in an ever-changing environment with advancements in Technology and evolving consumer demands, so ensuring we are able to keep up with market changes and even be ahead of them in some cases.
Primary Responsibilities Support sales with pricing, modeling, and pipeline management.
Implement a time recording system to capitalize project expenses and claim R&D tax credits.
Develop business case templates and dashboards to aid project prioritization and provide insightful portfolio data.
Ensure timely completion of daily settlement processes and client billing, identifying revenue growth opportunities.
Review and strengthen client and supplier/vendor contracts.
Support month-end processes, including reviewing accruals, variances, and resolving accounting issues.
Sign off on daily prefunding/client bank funds and ensure billing reflects current rates for pass-through expenses.
Support unit costing, pricing, margin management, and client profitability.
Ensure safeguarding and daily reconciliation of client funds, and review settlement volumes to maintain liquidity.
Identify opportunities with key suppliers like Temenos processing and Mastercard CBA.
Submit reports to the FCA and ensure compliance with FCA requirements.
Assist in the monthly close process, related reconciliations, and VAT calculations for submission to HMRC.
Support market expansion and commercialization of new products.
Approve supplier, expense, payroll, and tax payments.
Document tasks in the confluence knowledge store.
Required Qualifications Degrees: Finance, Accounting, Maths, Economics, Business or similar.
5+ years of relevant experience in financial services.
Strong at presenting information and turning data into insights.
A people's person, someone who collaborates well across all departments and locations.
An inquisitive and fix it mindset.
Fluent written and oral English skills.
Bonus If You Have Accounting Qualifications: Certified Accountant (not mandatory)
Experience with the issuing business would be great, software and digital assets.
In-depth knowledge of banking frameworks and payment methods.
Knowledge of interchange fees, scheme fees, processing fee, transaction types.
