FEUP - Doctorate Initial level - Project G2E - proposal 1249 NOTICE OF OPENING OF AN INTERNATIONAL SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF A DOCTORATE INITIAL LEVEL RESEARCHER POSITION
By order of 13/11/2024, the Dean of FEUP, Professor Rui Artur Bártolo Calçada, deliberated to open an international selection procedure for the recruitment of 1 Doctorate Initial level within the scope of Project G2E – Eco-Efficient Gypsum, with nr. 17310 and operation code at the Funds Platform (Balcão dos Fundos) COMPETE2030-FEDER-01178600, co-financed by COMPETE 2030, by Portugal 2030 and by the European Union, in the form of a Uncertain Term Employment Contract, by legal imperative, under the terms of paragraph b) of no. 1 of article 6 of RJEC, ex vi of no. 2 of article 18 of RJEC, and will be maintained only for the period necessary to execute the tasks defined in the project and identified below, whose expected duration is 21 months, never exceeding the maximum limit of six years.
This recruitment aims the performance of activities corresponding to the category of Doctorate Initial level, as stated in article 8 of Regulation No. 487/2020, of May 22.
The Doctorate Initial level is responsible for carrying out the activities foreseen in no. 2 of art. 7 of Regulation no. 487/2020, of May 22nd. Specifically, the Doctorate Initial level will develop R&D activities in the scope of Project G2E – Eco-Efficient Gypsum which inserts in the area of the recovery of alternative feedstocks, including wastes and by-products, and eco-design of construction products, contributing to the following project activities:
A1 - Preliminary studies and acquisition of new knowledge - survey of the current State of the Art in terms of using recycled plasterboard waste for the production of plaster or similar materials, including environmental and eco-efficiency factors.
A2 - Technical specifications – definition of the desired valences for G2E plasters. Identify the needs of the different users of new products and define the benefits they intend to acquire. Definition of evaluation metrics.
A3 - Laboratory development – support for developing new plaster formulations. Support for the iterative process of validating the conditions for waste to be recovered in new formulations according to different types of applications.
A4 - Construction of prototypes and tests development – support in constructing prototype products to demonstrate the plasters' quality in a real environment.
A5 - Promotion and dissemination of results - dissemination of the project and its results to different stakeholders, namely through participation in seminars and congresses as well as the publication of scientific studies.
The selected researcher may also provide possible collaboration in teaching and training activities in the area of research.
The scientific areas of this selection procedure are Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering and related scientific area.
Applicable Legislation: Regulation nº 487/2020, of 22 May - Regulation of Research, Science and Technology Staff of the University of Porto and other applicable legislation.
Admission Requirements:
General Admission Requirements: This competition is open to national candidates, foreigners and stateless persons holding a doctoral degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering or related scientific area, for 5 years or less, and with a scientific and professional curriculum that shows an appropriate profile for the activity to be developed.
Specific Admission requirements: The following specific criteria must be fulfilled to determine the appropriate profile for the activity to be developed:
First author of 5 studies published in English in journals indexed in Scopus, reporting the valorisation of alternative raw-materials, including wastes and by-products, Life Cycle Assessment and environmental sustainability promotion.
Have participated in projects related to waste management/valorisation and promotion of environmental sustainability.
Candidates must have skills and prior experience in Life Cycle Assessment, waste management, development of solid waste recovery solutions and promotion of environmental sustainability in industrial production processes.
Recruitment method:
Evaluation of the curricular path and scientific career of the applicants (APCC) (90%);
Interview (ENT) - (10%);
The interview will be conducted in Portuguese and English.
